HP dv9000 Notebook no sound

#1 Postby namida12 » Sat Feb 27, 2010 10:07 pm

The sound indicator in the Function Key area it is orange... 64-bit Mepis 8

I understand Ko, has been unable to find a working solution for activating the function keys...

Looking in the sound base, his sound card is different, than the code offered by
lspci | grep -i audio
lsmod | grep -i snd

newuser@mepis8:~$ lspci | grep -i audio
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03)

newuser@mepis8:~$ lsmod | grep -i snd

Code: Select all

snd_hda_codec_si3054     9344  1
snd_hda_codec_realtek   267140  1
snd_hda_intel          32992  1

Try # echo "blacklist snd-hda-codec-si3054" > /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist_local.conf
and reboot.

You obviously have a different flavor of the dv9000 than I have

root@SCSCNotebook:~# lspci | grep -i audio
00:07.0 Audio device: nVidia Corporation MCP65 High Definition Audio (rev a1)

So I may have no help on the sound card. I do believe that I had to select a different Master Channel, so you may want to give that a try.

However, I have all the function keys working correctly, so this may help. Control Center > Regional & Accessibility > Keyboard Layout, Layout tab, Keyboard model: Hewlet-Packard SK-2505 Internet Keyboard. Also, if I right click on the speaker in the System Tray, I can mute and unmute the sound, which also changes the color of the function key between orange (mute) and blue (unmute).
