MX-17 Repository - The Double Commander thread
Per request, Double Commander 0.8.3 (doublecmd-qt or doublecmd-gtk) is now available in the MX-17 test repository.
Double Commander is a free cross platform open source file manager with two panels side by side. It is inspired by Total Commander.
Its built in viewer will show hex, binary or text format. It displays images, it treats archives (zip, gz, xz, etc.) as directories, and has a number of plugins.
As with any package in Testing, please leave feedback if you try it out.
Enjoy!

Please post any testing results here.* New upstream release
* Update debian/copyright
* Suggest libunrar5 instead of libunrar0 since #720051 is fixed
* Suggest libffmpegthumbnailer4v5 instead of libffmpegthumbnailer4
* Drop obsolete Breaks/Replaces on doublecmd-*-dbg packages

Re: MX-17 Repository - The Double Commander thread
The test repo now has doublecmd_0.9.5. There have been several bugs fixed since 0.9.3.
You still get your pick of a Qt or gtk version to install.
these bugs we fixed in 0.9.4
but the program wouldn't launch so the 0.9.5 release fixed that.

Slightly OT, if you have vanilla MX, which one is preferred, gtk or qt?mmikeinsantarosa wrote: ↑Sun Jul 14, 2019 10:34 am You still get your pick of a Qt or gtk version to install.
In which case would you install either of them?
It is based on, which themes you have installed, correct?

They both seem to function and I only use it enough to make sure it works before I send it up so I can't say which, if either follow the themes better.Buck Fankers wrote: ↑Sun Jul 14, 2019 10:47 amSlightly OT, if you have vanilla MX, which one is preferred, gtk or qt?mmikeinsantarosa wrote: ↑Sun Jul 14, 2019 10:34 am You still get your pick of a Qt or gtk version to install.

Re: MX-17 Repository - The Double Commander thread
I use the gtk version on MX.
Theming is better than it was several versions ago.
Haven't tried DC-qt for several years.
I believe you can install both, then execute your choice to test. I think the common & plugin dependencies are same for both versions.
No lights nor strong enough internet to test that theory.

Re: MX-17 Repository - The Double Commander thread
Nope, one or the other. The two front-ends conflict.
I prefer the Qt aesthetic over Gtk. I think most of the dev team does since the MX-Tools are developed using Qt.

Re: MX-17 Repository - The Double Commander thread
Thanks, good to know.
My opinion was incorrect.
I stayed with the gtk2 version since Xfce4 used it.
I'm just accustomed to the look. :)
I'll give the qt version a chance.
