Good-looking, easy to use interface, easy to search for internet radio stations, plus it looks for album art quietly behind the scenes and if found, plonks a small jpg file of the art into the folder of that particular album (you can turn this off). I've been pleasantly surprised to accumulate lots of album art jpg files which my other media players, like Clementine, can use.

This is not to say I don't like or use Clementine, but there are a lot of functions and options in Clementine that I don't use. I do like Clementine's many pre-listed radio stations, plus the many different smart playlists.

In Lollypop you have to search for radio stations yourself, but the search function is good. It is already displaying search results even while you are still typing your search term. It will also try to look for artwork/logos for the radio station.

It doesn't seem really difficult to port from the PPA (famous last words, here, hold my beer while I tackle this!)

I received weird build failures on the new 0.9.3X version, which switched to a "meson" build system, but have discovered just now that it really wants a newer version of meson than is in Stretch. That's already in stretch-backports, so I'll backport that first and try again.

And I'll download it tomorrow. I liked it when I test drove Peppermint (IIRC) but preferred MX as a distro.

Worked here on my testing machine--but I vastly prefer Deadbeef in all ways, including aesthetic.

Downloaded the zip file.

With just the lollypop deb file installed, the Lollypop player opened and closed (crashed?) immediately.

After I installed lollypop-portal deb file, it worked fine.

I didn't install the meson deb in the zip file.

I'll add the -portal package as a hard dependency...right now it's only a recommended one.

Yes, the meson package is only necessary to build lollypop. I'm sending it up to our repo because policy is that the build tools also need to be in there.
