The F11 hide feature in FF can be modified to hide the titlebar. It hides the menu bar and bookmarks bar as well Type about:config in the address bar and find browser.fullscreen.autohide. Set the value to false. It will persist thorough browser close and reopen. Probably still not what FF 56 and older users are looking for, but a twist on F11.

I never noticed this easy trick with mpv and Firefox. This also requires that youtube-dl is installed.

Start mpv from the menu so you get a empty frame.
Drag and drop a Youtube thumbnail into that frame.
Mpv plays the video with much less CPU use than the browser. On my system, since mpv is using va-api hardware acceleration, that means essentially no cpu use as compared to Firefox pegging my CPU into turbo mode.

To do: experiment with sites other than Youtube.

There is now a new Download Status Bar that works with FF Quantum: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... tatus-bar/

The developer knows that it's too thick as it is now, but promises to try and get it thinner. Now I can easily monitor my download progress again.

Found this tip in the FAQ on Stevos link:

"Xfce 4.12 now support Titileless feature!! Enable it in window manager tweaks → accessibility." So without installing the plugin I ticked the relevent box in window manager tweaks and the titlebar vanished. Unfortunately so did the close and minimize buttons.

It works but you have to get used to closing FF by left clicking on the panel because the close box in the upper right is hidden.
Don't know how i missed that one! thanks!
Pressing alt and clicking on empty space on top will make it easy to move Firefox around, or just alt will give a few more options.

update: just noticed, that clicking on Firefox icon on Cairo dock will minimize or maximize accordingly.
