Master PDF Editor

#1 Post by Gerson »

I do also highly recommend " Master PDF Editor" to use on Linux! It was mentioned here in the Forum a couple of times! I mainly using it for "editing" but it does also a good job for viewing! :fox:

We'd have to check to see if its redistribution terms allow us to include it on the ISO, and if it can be used as the MX Manual viewer instead of qpdf...but I really like it, also.

I think PCLinuxOS has it in their repo, so it's probably OK to redistribute.

Google Translate:

Actually the real power comes from the ability to edit pdf-files.
You can do: edit/insert new/existing text, pictures etc..
Further you can fill out PDF-formulars even without the need to have pdf-javascript available.
A real master-tool which I do have for years within my toolbox in Linux.
I would not go further to replace existing viewer but as an additonal viewer/edit combo! Cool! :fox:

Prior to a possible inclusion in the test repo, how have you guys/gal downloaded Master PDF Editor? Their web page indicates it is a paid application. If you paid that is fine, but not sure I want to.

It's free to download: https://code-industry.net/get-masterpdfeditor/

The demo version allows you to try out all the features of Master PDF Editor. There are no limitations except for the addition of a watermark on the output file.

Well this statement on the web-page is kind of valid, but rather the intention seems be to motivate purchasing it.
It actualy does include watermarks on the output file ONLY if you edit/modify the PDF with the addtional/advanced pro-features. A clear warning is given for that watermark thingy before writing. You even have to confirm first before you write it with watermark, bakup-file is always generated. Normal Text-Editing etc is free to use.
I do use Master PDF Editor for more than about ~5 years. I never needed to use the advanced pro-version stuff,
like adding PDF-Pages as this can be done on linux with other tools.

Within the About-window of the linux application it clearly states "Free for non-comercial use"!
Something similar as we have for teamviewer , anydesk etc.
EDIT : It is not a demo-version!
