Has anyone installed Spotify successfully on latest MX?
Has anyone installed Spotify successfully on latest MX?
Spotify - There seems to be issues with getting it installed across the various flavors of Linux. I'm just wondering if anyone here has done so successfully and have it working on MX 18+ ?? Looks like there is one in the test repo .. Has anyone tried it?
In order to "download" podcast from Spotify (from what I can find out) installation of the spotify-client is required. I've just been using a browser to listen to them online, but since I've shifted to working nights, I'd like to download the podcast and transfer them over to my portable device / player. It is a Cowon S9.
Here is the procedure from the Spotify Community .. https://community.spotify.com/t5/Social ... 930#M41032
Kernel: 4.19.0-1-amd64 x86_64 bits: 64 Desktop: Xfce 4.12.3
Distro: MX-18.3_x64 - Continuum - Plus all updates.

Re: Has anyone installed Spotify successfully on latest MX?
we have an entry in MX-Packageinstaller->Popular Applications for spotify. I haven't checked it in a while but it worked when we set it up.KernSpy wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2019 2:37 pm Spotify - There seems to be issues with getting it installed across the various flavors of Linux. As Spotify signing key has expired, you can run this from the command line to install the actual valid key:dolphin_oracle wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2019 3:02 pm we have an entry in MX-Packageinstaller->Popular Applications for spotify. I haven't checked it in a while but it worked when we set it up.
Code: Select all
sudo apt-key adv --keyserver hkp://keyserver.ubuntu.com:80 --recv-keys 0x2ebf997c15bda244b6ebf5d84773bd5e130d1d45
The current valid key looks like this;
Code: Select all
apt-key finger spotify

Would that have been picked up by MX GPG?

Re: Has anyone installed Spotify successfully on latest MX?
They changed the signing key, the old key expired at 2019-08-16.
For first time installer MX GPG Checking would not help.
If you would had already installed before that date, the old Release-file would show the old signing key,
which MX GPG would try to fetch again. So no, that would not help. But perhaps we review this ... later ..

Checkaptgpg didn't pick it up for MX-19 (via chroot, I'm in MX-16 right now)

Re: Has anyone installed Spotify successfully on latest MX?
That's indeed a more robust url for getting the key.kmathern wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2019 5:19 pmCode: Select all
