Location of default background (wallpapers)

#1 Post by dmrome »

Newbie here ... seemed to have lost the folder location of the default Desktop backgrounds. I am looking for the default ones that came with the system. Running MX-18.3 / Linux 4.19.0-1 Kernel.

It is user/share/backgrounds. You can get to it by right clicking on the desktop and choosing Desktop. In the Folder drop down choose backgrounds.

Please edit your original post (the pencil icon at the top right) and add [SOLVED] to the subject. This makes it easier for others when they're searching the forum looking for answers to the same question. Thanks.

I keep my background backed up and sorted on a usb drive. I then copy and paste the entire folder in my home folder and I can add remove them without signing in as root. If your the only account on the computer I suggest this highly because I'll download a bunch occasionally and just highlight them all and cut and paste them in the the home/wallpaper/unsorted folder till I get a change to organize them at a later time.
