Syncing a fitbit

#1 Post by Krissharm » Fri Oct 12, 2018 5:40 am

Hi all
Like many people I have a fitbit. I have recently had to try and sync it on my computer as it wont work on my android phone for some reason. Anyway I cant see anyway of doing this on linux easily. There appears to be some Ubuntu instructions about, but I dont want to add repositories. Has anyone had any success with this? I'd rather not use windows really.

It would be helpful to add the sources of what you have found, saves others the searching around. Maybe something can be done still.

On my MX-16.x install I use the 1.0dev version of galileo from the https://bitbucket.org/benallard/galileo page/link you posted to sync my Charge 2 FitBit device. I've been using it since June or so of last year.

One of our MX packagers, mmikeinsantarosa, has also built some galileo related packages for the MX repos. They're based on an earlier galileo version, 0.5.1-4, but I've never been able to get my Charge 2 device to sync with that version. The 1.0dev version adds some options that aren't in the 0.5.1-4 version, and I need to use some of those options when syncing my Charge 2.

The benallard/galileo page has instructions on how to install it, but I seem to recall having some problems with them at the time though I eventually did get it working.
