MX18 TLE (Thai Language Edition)

#1 Post by Parnikkapore »

I'm not sure why I'm even posting this here, but this is a preconfigured MX18 for Windows users in Thailand. The font and locales are all pre-set.

For now, the download is here on Google Drive. (I might upload future versions to archive.org)

And welcome to the Forum!

BTW: what does "preconfigured for Windows users" mean for you, exactly? Panel at the bottom?

Other: Raspberry Pi 5 with MX-23 Xfce Raspberry Pi Respin

Initially it will be mostly about the panel layout, but it also means that some settings will be tuned for non-techies which just want things to work. For example, I added Firefox as a favourite and removed the Terminal from there. Codecs would also be included.

The respin's main point is about the localization issues though:
  • The fonts are changed to the de-facto standard (Which somehow actually looks better than Noto Sans Thai!). Fonts in Firefox is also preconfigured in this manner.
  • Of course, the default locale is changed to Thai.
  • I preconfigured the keymaps and switching. (Fun fact: Our keyboards always have double-languaged labels.)
  • Oh, and also making the stock experience less alienating.

I haven't tried your edition, because my first language is not Thai. What I notice however is that when I type Thai in a terminal window the nikahit (อํ) part of the am อำ vowel is not displayed.
Have you found a solution for that in your edition?

I need to check. Recent snapshots now have a thai xterm font, but I wasn't consciously testing it
