There is a new upgrade (v.05)

1. 230 pkgs upgraded
2. Fixed clipit (downgraded 1.4.2) and marked hold
3. Stretch repos are blocked except mx stretch allowing mx tools upgrade.
4. Installer icon not visible (requires Desktop Icons extension), but located in ~/Desktop
5. 80Mb unnecessary pkgs removed

(link removed)
MD5: b3983a50e143afdd09b6b85e3e047f25

TO INSTALL:
Run in terminal "sudo -E minstall" or click Installer.desktop in ~/Desktop

PS.
I have been waiting to move back to MX from Ubuntu Gnome (3.30). I consider now Debian buster is stable enough for day-to-day work. This v.05 is my base to install mixture of gnome and kde apps (gnome-extensions, gnome-documents, tracker, evolution, dolphin, k3b, and ofcourse mx tools which are already there)..... "mx gnokde"

For Gnome DE a nice tool is gpaste. Seems like new version of clipit isn't compatible.

Code: Select all

sudo apt install gnome-shell-extensions-gpaste gpaste

@rasat
Hi, I've just read about your modifications and I'm very interested in testing it.
(Seems, as if there ain't an official buster-based MX testing image yet, is there?)
Could you please provide the link for the .iso again?

Are you still working/testing with your buster-based version?
If you do, did you find some more bugs in the meantime?
Those 80Mb unnecessary pkgs are XFCE-Related stuff?
Thanks in advance!

Thank you for taking interest in this respin. For some reasons, the frequent downloads or whatever, deleted everything. The website is up again but not the iso. I have updated to version 0.6, which work well. I will upload to another site soon.

PS.
In 80Mb were games and few unrelated tools.

I've found that archive.org works well for hosting ISOs, and even provides a torrent automatically. Make sure to list it under Community Software.

Xfce stuff here isn't necessary.

You can run

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get purge xfce4utils* orage tumbler-common
Most packages like thunar, exo-utils and others depends on a xfce4utils package and deinstalls automatically with this command.
For the rest run

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get autoremove --purge
and check orphans with

Code: Select all

deborphan --guess-all
Check also /etc/skel and delete here /etc/skel/.config/xfce4 and /etc/skel/.config/Thunar and take a look at /root folder. Maybe it's preconfigured with xfce and you can delete same folders in /root/.config
But notice that some MX tools for Xfce DE, they're useless on Gnome.

On my system I've installed Budgie at a second desktop from MXPI. It's fine and you've no duplicates like a second terminal-application, screenshot-tool or similar things. O.k. for a better experience I've installed nautilus with --no-install-recommends. Looks great and a little bit Gnome-like.

Thanks dphn, all Xfce stuff were removed in first respin version. Only Thunar file manager was kept. About Gnome, minimal packages.

Its designed with minimal, easy to setup own packages. In my running machine, I removed Thunar and installed Dolphin and added other KDE apps. In the website, one of the slides shows the gnome extensions which I am using. This respin is now my permanent desktop since January. Everyday there are new upgrades, Debian does good job, and works well.
