I have that suspicion also. I did two days worth of checking. Then asked because I was getting the first or last post and there was no orange box there. Time heals everything, mostly. Seems good now.

I see no difference in operation between the two Unread Posts link locations, nor would I expect there to be any.

There isn't. I evidently had to visit each thread before the software would show the orange boxes. De Nada as all is working correctly now.
