1. clicking on "Unread posts" or "New posts" at the top right corner. The list of newest posts on the front page only shows the latest 8 no matter how many more recent posts were unread. The old forum software just listed all unread posts, in as many pages as it took.

2. being brought to the last post in a thread when clicking on the "unread" orange icon to the left of the thread link. Seems a waste of effort to have to then make an additional mouseclick after that to be brought to the first unread post. Is there any way at the very least to have the "first unread post" option at the bottom of the page rather than on top, since that's where the user ends up after being brought to the last post?

This software looks similar to that of another forum I visit, and clicking on the orange icon always brought me to the first unread post. So this might be a setting that can be changed.

Other than that, it's looking good.

EDIT:

Clarification: if you click on "new posts" via the Quick Links on the top left rather than the link on the top right corner, the small orange icon on the left of the thread link does bring you to the first unread post. It's only if you click on the icons in the list of 8 newest posts or via the "new posts" link in the top right, that you are brought to the last post in thread.

Weird inconsistency.
1. That is a setting tied to the number of recent posts shown on the Index page. it is currently set at 8. I do not want to make it too large as it would take over a majority of the Index page.
2. Apparently that is controlled by the Recent Posts module and not configurable. The Quick Links post ordering can be changed in your user control panel.

Well, this will take a little getting used to, but not much. Seems to be pretty well laid out. A bit of a shock though, when I first got here this morning...

I just tried marking all topics as read, yet the yellow post it notes on the forum main page are sticking in their places. I have no unread posts, all has been marked read, how do I get those things to turn to normal?

I believe those yellow icons indicate the presence of subforums, not of unread posts.
