Re: Debian 9.4
Kent, don't change anything, I did some testing in VM and on installed MX-17 I for the first update I got the same results as you then I ran apt-get update again and I get the second result. In my VM one extra apt-get update worked, on the installed MX-17 I needed to run it 3 times.

Re: Big mistake, big, huge, started Windows
For me it's puzzling how Microsoft and some users consider that it's OK for an update to take longer than it would take to install a fully-featured operating system. Not only a Microsoft problem, there are many pieces of software that take hours or in any case considerably more time to install (or e...

Re: MX-17.1-RC1 Release Candidate Feedback
I still don't understand what problem we try to fix, "logname" provides the correct username in my experience at least when you run the program from menu or in terminal with sudo. There might be some exotic ways to run the program that don't provide the correct user name but I haven't hit ...

Re: mx-snapshot, directory name localization, and CJK characters
For 11 Don't translate the path. For 12, 14-17 I am not sure, they could be translated but then the /home/user/Documents will be excluded or not depending on how you check that box. So I'm not sure if it's confusing to have it translated or not... Let me know if you want me to mark those as not tran...

Re: MX-17.1-RC1 Release Candidate Feedback
How is that going to solve what is openned when clicking on links? Also, user.toUtf8() is just a variable of the stuff that is returned by "logname". "whoami" would return "root" which is not what we need. Try "sudo logname" vs. "sudo whoami" to see ...

Re: MX-17.1-RC1 Release Candidate Feedback
-- clicking the hyperlink displayed within the tool's "About" dialog DOES invoke a root-permissioned web browser instance That's pretty much unavoidable for links, links are handled by the operating system, it's not the program that decides how they are opened, like for example if you hav...
