Re: Suggestion for sensible defaults
I would be very much against enabling a firewall by default. I absolutely don't see the need for it in a home-user situation, and when using distros that have it, I have spent far too much time doing things like trying to transfer files, or getting a printer to work. The fact that Windows uses it as...

Re: using old hardware if possible
I love D630s - I still have half a dozen of them, and they are bomb-proof.
If that is what I had to use for my day-to-day computing, I would be perfectly happy.

Re: Minimum system specs and maxi
Everyone has a different interpretation of 'well', so not an easy question to answer. As long as you are not wanting to do video rendering or similar, the one thing that taxes older machines now is web browsing. MX will install and run on a single-core Pentium M, with 2GB RAM. Office apps, music, ev...

Re: Master PDF in PI paid version?
The problem with using version 5 without paid registration is that it adds a watermark, apparently.

Master PDF in PI paid version?
A Facebook user is complaining that the Package Installer lists Master PDF Editor as the free version, but it installs version 5, which requires paid registration for full functionality. He suggests that the PI should install version 4, which is fully free.
Any thoughts please?

Re: Firefox buggy as usual
OK, so you have one issue that you believe is a bug. Have you tried to see if anyone else has the same problem; a quick Google sheds no light on it for me, and it has never happened to me.
On that basis, I'm not sure your experience justifies describing Firefox as 'buggy as usual'.

Re: Firefox buggy as usual
Firefox runs perfectly for me on Linux. I have an instance of it open on its own workspace for perhaps 16 hours a day, and it is rock-solid. You didn't say why you found it buggy; perhaps re-post with more details, and someone might be able to help. Your 'problem' with how links are opened is actual...

Re: Why Clemetine and VLC both?
VLC does far more things than just play video, and Clementine does far more things than just play music.
