Re: Gnome on MX [Solved]
Gnome won't work well unless you "opt in" to systemd.

Re: What motivates you to choose a DE/WM?
I like a plain and simple window manager like Openbox, but I remain a Xfce4 fanboy for two reasons: 1 . Xfce doesn't radically and suddenly change, forcing it's users to practically learn a whole 'nother environment out of the blue. 2. Xfce development is deliberately slow (like Debian, now that I t...

Re: How the Linux desktop has grown
Okay, I agree that Linux DEs are better than Winders and Macs, but I find bare-bones plain-and-simple window managers even more fun than a full DE! Simplicity is king.

Re: Complete removal of Firefox [Solved]
MX has it's own ad-blocker as well, that works on every browser! A simple hosts file is all it is but it doesn't mess things up like some ad blockers do. Find it in the MX Package Installer.

Re: anoter init system
When I wanted to try a "truly systemd-free MX-Linux" experiment, I installed antiX and added Xfce to it (using the antiX software installer, not synaptic ). I think it worked pretty well, but it did seem to mbe missing a lot of the things I really enjoy in MX. It helps me to remember that ...

Re: Too bad about debian...
I think Debian ia awesome! Granddaddy to a zillion and twelve spinoffs and distros, flavors and editions, Debian has always been reliable, stable, and rock-solid. I got Debian with Xfce and spent the better part of a week configuring and tweaking and getting it just right. MX took about 30 minutes t...

Re: Safest Chromium based web browser
I hope it doesn't need systemd from that site. Can't find it in MX Package Installer, even as a Flatpak. Could that be the reason?

Re: Will XFCE get a new version when MX updates to Debian 12
One of the best things about Xfce is it's slow, deliberate development. No sudden huge changes to the whole thing like the Gnome and KDE. It stays simple and familiar, but just gets better!

Re: A New Fanboy
May I ask you age? Read "about Artim" in my signature. I find this funny because I stay with Firefox and Thunderbird for the same reasons. So I'm a little curious to know what principles you base it on.? I can't answer satisfactorily that without going against forum rules. Suffice it to s...
