Re: Has anyone tried MX-Snapshot on Debian or derivatives?

snapshot doesn't actually care about the init system at all. but our default mx-iso-template is set up for MX, not other derivatives. the templates are not generic. antiX has its' own as well. I've used snapshot with straight debian, but I don't think I've bothered on debian 12. Our user setup shoul...

Re: maybe a bug

I just noticed in the above, a few lines above, systemctl . What is this? Systemd???? don't get too worked up about it. inxi just checks for the presence of systemctl. which is installed, because systemd is installed. it also shows you are booted up with the default sysVinit boot mode. despite what...

Re: MX 23.2 normal user not allowing any root access apps to run or execute.

the live session is not "locked down". the demo account is set up exactly like the user account created by the installer. so if you were having issues, there was a problem. you can see if the authentication agent is actually running with ps -aux |grep authentication and look for a line con...

Re: MX 23.2 normal user not allowing any root access apps to run or execute.

Re: Toggle Xfce Power Manager [Solved]

copying the xml files would not likely work very well without killing xfconf and the applications that read them. the files aren't read constantly, they are read at application start up, and the values maintained in memory and periodically saved back to the xml files when there are changes, but the ...

Re: Downgrading SDDM-modified-init

Why?

Right now the older version is no longer in the repositories

zip file containing that version of the script is attached. put the file in the /etc/init.d folder.

Re: Toggle Xfce Power Manager [Solved]

Yes the command I gave would change the setting via the xfconf interface and would take effect immediately. And only for the plugged-in profile. A laptop in battery would be unaffected.

xfconf-query is how tweak does most of its xfce settings work.

Re: Toggle Xfce Power Manager [Solved]

Code: Select all

xfconf-query -c xfce4-power-manager -p /xfce4-power-manager/blank-on-ac -t int -s 16 --create
substitue the 16 for whatever value, in whole-number minutes, you want.

Re: MX 23.2 KDE is now taking too long to boot up

thank you for the QSI right out of the gate. Gold star! Swap: Alert: No swap data was found. I'm gonna guess that somewhere along the way you had a swap partition, and that the swap partition was formatted by one of the other distro installations. an invalid swap entry in your /etc/fstab will lead t...
