Update. Have just cleared space on sbd in the faulty machine and installed a second copy of MX19.1. This works perfectly with the panel visible and useable. Have had success with Gimp for enlarging and printing pdfs. Biggest hassle has been getting the scaling of the two A4 exactly
matched.
