Re: Slick Greeter

I'll have a look to see whether it will backport

Just know that upgrading core libraries like libc6 is a good way to break your system. That's why we have the Package Request Forums

Re: Error: Can not find a source to download version «18.8» of «mx-repo-manager: amd64» ???

I have added the dependency to the MX-15 pool, so if you Reload (or sudo apt-get update from a terminal) you should be able to complete the update.
n.b. - mxrepo.com & the three *.mxrepo.com mirrors now have this file - other MX mirrors will get the update on their normal schedules.

Re: Error: Can not find a source to download version «18.8» of «mx-repo-manager: amd64» ???

I assume you are running MX-15 or MX-16
The mx-repo-manager version has been updated to 18.9 for MX-15 -> MX-17 which is why 18.8 is not available anymore - but it's missing a dependency in MX-15/16. I'll see if I can correct that shortly...

Re: Simplescreenrecorder Stopped Working

Code: Select all

[Muxer::Init] Error: Can't open output file!
Check where it is trying to save the file. This error appears to indicate that either the path you are trying to save the file to doesn't exist, you don't have permissions there, you are out of disk space, or there is an existing file using that name.

Re: Where's Warren?

Though that company's listed domain is parked at WIX. Not promising for a going concern.
Warren also shows up as CTO at Journil Solutions

Re: Life Is Too Short to RTFM

It's why you try to make stuff discoverable as well as documented. And as to "excess" features, it's well to remember what was discovered about Word & Excel: "80% of people use only 20% of the functionality (or less), but it's a different 20% for all of them." Remember the screams when Gnome tried t...

Re: How to send an 'E mail' - Database - 1984

I heard, not sure if correct that the modems that were coupling with the phones (audio style, not electric) was the result of the monopoly the phone company had and because they owned the equipment (phone and lines) and they didn't allow a direct electrical connections. True, but by 1984 when the f...

Re: How to send an 'E mail' - Database - 1984

The first 300 baud modems for the Commodore 64 were designed to plug into the earpiece jack of a Western Electric/Bell System phone so the phone's electronics would match the signal to the phone line. The problem was that my touch tone phone at that time didn't have such a jack - it was hard-wired, ...

Re: MX-17.1: Safely connect a notebook's heaphone output to "tape in" - how?

Screenshot-17.png Well, here is where I meant - and I remember this working on my old (now dead) Lenovo. But my HP laptop, the line-out jack is only available on the docking station (which I don't have). So it's not as simple as I thought. If you install alsa-tools-gui there is a utility hdajackret...
