Re: Last major update: Gimp 2.10 needs version "0.1.58-1~mx17+1" of libbabl-0.1-0

You have installed the Debian-Multimedia version of libbabl which uses an epoch to show it's version as being higher than ours. Disable the deb-multimedia.org repo, and Gui solution: Open Synaptic, select libbabl-0.1-0, use Package -> Force version to select the MX version and apply. or CLI solution...

Re: Problems after todays updates

Installing nVidia drivers with ddm-mx on MX-17 leaves those drivers auto-removable. Upgrading them works properly but leaves the new versions auto-removable as well. It is being noticed with the big update but it's not new. Auto-remove is not set up to run by default and any user who had been using ...

Re: MX-18 beta 1 feedback

I just installed Mate and Wine into my MX-17.1 upgraded to MX-18. The problem you are having may be because Mate has to pull in some packages from the MX18/dev repository for each of those installs, and I believe that repo is disabled on the MX-18b1 LiveUSB. Those packages will be moved to main in a...

Re: Wow, somebody was busy uploading our ISOs to archive.org

Is there any way to delete from archive an upload or it goes against what archive.org is supposed to be? Any user may remove items they have uploaded. If you hold the copyright on an item someone else has uploaded without a license or permission you can submit that information & they will remove th...

Re: Has anyone suceeded in setting up nfs shares

Does /media/wilf/New_Drive have the appropriate permissions? The Wiki says they have to be rw for everybody (I think executable is optional). It should look something like this: $ ls -al /media/wilf total 12 drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 Dec 10 14:56 . drwxr-xr-x 13 root root 4096 Dec 10 14:56 .. drwx...

Re: computers not seeing scanner

The /etc/hosts file matches up numeric ip addresses with hostnames and what you put in your /etc/hosts contains neither the hostname avahi-discover identified nor an ip address.
What you should have entered in /etc/hosts is

Code: Select all

Re: computers not seeing scanner

I notice that the Samsung unified driver download contains the scripts: install.sh install-printer.sh install-scanner.sh Is it possible you used install.sh on the one machine & thus installed both drivers but only install-printer.sh on the other two? Alternatively, it could be a networking issue wit...

Re: Has anyone suceeded in setting up nfs shares

sudo exportfs -a does not report anything unless you have a malformed /etc/exports entry, so that part is good. It causes the server to start advertising the nfs exports to the network.
The mount command should now work.

Re: Has anyone suceeded in setting up nfs shares

A timeout suggests that the nfs share hasn't been exported from the Server side. On the server, run:

Code: Select all

sudo exportfs -a
then try mounting from the client again using this command:

Code: Select all

mount /media/nfs-server/new_drive
