Re: Tips for Using Dolphin File Manager in MX without converting totally to KDE

@Stevo. I think that is a different phenomenon.. If you click on the plus of the icon at the upper left when you hover it disappears then move off the icon to a blank area and it reappears. Still may be related to the theme chosen

Re: Tips for Using Dolphin File Manager in MX without converting totally to KDE

I think I know the direction of the answer to my own question but it appears on reboot after installing KDE5 that baloo is not running, and that is required for Dolphin search to work. Anyone care to opine on whether baloo is worthwhile in this kind of setup, and if so how best to start it? In a te...

@skidoo, good point. As our Rules state: Do not copy and paste entire or even up to half of someone else's words or articles into posts. Post only a few sentences or a paragraph and make sure to include a link back to original words or article. Otherwise it's copyright infringement. Would you both b...

Re: Tips for Using Dolphin File Manager in MX without converting totally to KDE

Thanks guys - One irritating quibble I have had with Dolphin under MX is that when I click on a filename to highlight it, and then move the cursor and move it back over the highlighted name, it disappears. I have presumed that might be related to not using the Oxygen icon set, but I am not sure. It...

Re: Tips for Using Dolphin File Manager in MX without converting totally to KDE

With the processor and memory listed in my sig the KDE packages and processes started by having them installed hardly make a dent in memory and cpu usage.

Re: Tips for Using Dolphin File Manager in MX without converting totally to KDE

Dolphin is my file manager of choice. I just installed KDE Standard from MXPI to ensure I get all the bells and whistles for Dolphin, but I never log in to KDE and use XFCE. It was the path of least resistance to trying to figure out all the apps needed for a full Dolphin experience. Baloo for examp...

Re: [SOLVED] To UEFI or not to UEFI?

@Eadwine Since I have more then one drive in the computer as I think you do, I use the full disk option of the installer. It takes care of the necessary partitioning, no need to manually create any partitions. It does not touch my data partition on another drive. That same data partition has been us...

Re: [SOLVED] To UEFI or not to UEFI?

So.. when I look for a new motherboard (building a computer) and it says it's a UEFI mobo, I don't have to do anything special to have the liveusb or system boot? I always create a root, home, and swap partition on the HDD prior to installing. Piece of cake! So you can use that candle on it. The on...

Re: MX Linux gains distrowatch "Major" Linux distribution status

DW's definition is of their making and arbitrary. I would not put much stock in it, although others will and will attract users to MX as Richard said.
