Re: Best options for MX Snapshot

zstd offers the best compromise that's what we use now when we build official ISOs. For fastest speed nothing can beat lz4, but you end up wasting GBs, xz offers the best compression as you can see above it takes about double the time for less than 10% better compression than zstd.

Re: RTL8821CE not working by default?

The driver is already loaded (it shows in lsmod, and also when you don't get any output after "modprobe rtl8821ce" is a sign it was loaded successfully) Device-1: Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11ac PCIe Wireless Network Adapter driver: N/A modules: rtw88_8821ce, wl, rtl8821ce Not sure how to inter...

Re: RTL8821CE not working by default?

Does lsmod show rtl8821ce module loaded? Can you try to do a "modprobe rtl8821ce" and see if you get any error? Another thing to try is to reinstall the package, I think this should rebuild the module, "sudo apt reinstall rtl8821ce-dkms" Can you please also post the Quick System ...

Re: Microcode Update

Also, as mentioned on that site "Latest is not always better or tested."
Do you try to fix something? People should not really be concerned with firmware unless there's something not working OK.

Re: snapshot iso size growing over time [Solved]

If you have 2 ISOs you can use isomount and investigate with baobab, filelight, or ncdu (or just du) to see the difference between folder sizes...

Re: Any plans for MX 23 yet?

We'll probably work on it during the freeze, hopefully ready to release soon after Debian 12 release.

Re: Snapshot Exclusion List (for .config)

Comment out ".config" line in /etc/mx-snapshot-exclude.list (there's a button to open that file in the editor)

Re: When upgrading choose maintainers version or default. [Solved]

Thank you asqwerth. I guess if I see anything that looks like it's something MX modified (in MX Tools or Tweaks) I'll just select No. There's no hard and fast rule for that, if it were there would be no prompt it would do it automatically for you. For MX Tools it's probably best to press Yes, becau...
