well that fixed it...

typing alsamixer gets me this

cannot open mixer: No such file or directory


when is type in alsa(then hit tab) alsamixer does show up

updated recently (last week?)

lost sound

on boot up it stalls on populating /dev
then skips through what it is failing at....

boot up but no sound

alsamixer isnt running.

guessing it is not finding the soundcard or modprobe is running the wrong driver

any ideas?
