Re: Mail merge with LibreOffice Writer - Solved
I feel really dumb as I was always the one to ask if they followed the instructions the way I told them to. I'll blame my old age for not following my own advice
It works great.

Re: Mail merge with LibreOffice Writer
I have tried method2 before as it seemed to me that if I could skip the Mail Merge part wanting the name & address block and go right into choosing fields from the spreadsheet then I would be golden. But even though the spreadsheet file I wanted was listed, it would never show the spreadsheet un...

Re: Mail merge with LibreOffice Writer
And no, you do not have to use that address block, you can just use straight from the data and in any location in the letter that you want. ( You just cant use the mail merge wizard... it has to be done "manually" ) OK, I'll bite. How do you do it manually? I assume you don't mean to ente...

Re: Mail merge with LibreOffice Writer
I didn't know it was possible to edit a field. I can use mail merge now for some things that I used glabels for. It would be nice if I could use it without the name address block it seems to want to insist on being there. Just skip that part and add data into the body of the letter. Thank you for yo...

Re: Mail merge with LibreOffice Writer
I tried different ways to make this work for me, but ran into some issues. 1. I didn't see any way to change the size of the name & address space, though after thinking about it, I can probably place it so the white space is on the top and the address is on the bottom of the outline. And there w...

Re: Libre Office help - I managed to break Libre Office - Solved
Rebooting worked. In 20+ years of using LO this is the first time that I sort of broke it. And on a restart it asked if I wanted to recover the file.

Libre Office help - I managed to break Libre Office - Solved
I was trying to tame Mail Merge in Writer. It sure seems to be picky-ticky and I was trying to do something that is a bit different than the code writers envisioned. So this was maybe my 25th time trying to get things to look like I wanted them to look. But trying to remove a data set caused it to f...

Re: The open application Icons are way too big on the panel
OK, I added a third panel, already had 2nd panel that is hidden for 4 apps that I don't use a lot but don't like having to hunt for them, and just have the date on the third hidden panel. Then I could shrink the row size on the main panel. Thank you guys for tips like this. I'll have to try Cairo do...

Re: The open application Icons are way too big on the panel
I use the work spaces - WS2 is Firefox. WS3 is Thunderbird, WS4 is Calendar & Address book, WS5 is search, WS7 is a game for when I am on the phone on hold, WS8 is File mgr, WS9 & 6 & 7 I use to do applications. I guess I should be using KDE Plasma, but I could never wrap my head around ...
