Re: MX 23.2 normal user not allowing any root access apps to run or execute.

Well I checked the downloaded iso file and it all checks out with the checksums. I decided to dd the iso to usb stick and it all worked fine. I tested the installed system that I was able to install with the DVD and it works fine. I tested the live DVD 3 times and 3 times the pol-kit crashes. Somet...

Re: Booting USB-live-System: UIP: Was not able to install 82 packages

with the debian repos disabled, you won't get many updates. I would say most of the packages you are missing come from the debian repo.

Re: Options on network system tray suddenly changed

there have been no changes in the network-manager package nor any default network settings. can you show the contents of /etc/network/interfaces and any files under /etc/network/interfaces.d/ network-manager won't manage an ethernet connection that is defined in those places, which is the reason to ...

Re: Question about installing new Kernel packages (header + image) [Solved]

You can remove. It will still be in the linuxfs until another remaster.

This is exactly what I do with my respins. They are all built on live usb.

Re: maybe a bug

FYI antiX is systemd-free. There is a bit of overlap with mx with some tools and the antix live system

Good luck and happy computing.

Re: maybe a bug

Those questions are answered in our FAQ. I looked and it says that systemd is not the employed 'init' utility. What will stop working if I uninstall systemd, period? Where can I unsubscribe from the forum if necessary? Thank you. lots of things will quit working if you simply remove systemd. anythi...

Re: Question to Live kernel updater [Solved]

What difference does it make between just installing the new kernel from the MX package installer and then remaster to then also use the live kernel updater is it just so it also works in non persistent mode or something or is there more to it? In theory it may work if the new kernel is only on the...

Re: Question to Live kernel updater [Solved]

in order to boot the linuxfs file system, the kernel actually lives outside it. so the kernel vmlinuz image and the initrd will load everything else. live-kernel-update updates the vmlinuz file to whatever kernel you have inside the remastered linuxfs file.

Re: Has anyone tried MX-Snapshot on Debian or derivatives?

snapshot doesn't actually care about the init system at all. but our default mx-iso-template is set up for MX, not other derivatives. the templates are not generic. antiX has its' own as well. I've used snapshot with straight debian, but I don't think I've bothered on debian 12. Our user setup shoul...
