Re: RC2 feedback
I just got RC2 running; have not yet had a chance to test it thourely. But I have found 1 serious 'bug' which would prevent me from using it: The flashing rectanles that come on when it is not doing something else prevent the monitor from turning off automatically! Since I normally run 'Seti-at-Home...

Re: M12 11.9.92
Ah, problem solved - I had to create a mount-point (empty directory) named "/media/cdrom"! Now it mounts all CD's and DVD's I have tried.

Re: M12 11.9.92
I have found a shortcoming in 11.9.92; I should have found it a long time ago, but I rarely use CD's or DVD's (USB keys work all the time). Many of them will not mount under .92, but worked fine under Mepis 11. Live CD/DVD's work properly, but the same disks will not mount as data disks; so the prob...

Re: M12 11.9.92
Burt, my wife teaches photography and burns through USB keys like nobody's business...the kid's all use them to take their photos home and they get heavy use. That's the difference - I only use them (with one exception) for ISO files to install vaious distributions. So they don't get erased very of...

Re: M12 11.9.92
I hate it when that happens. I love it when a bootable USB is working properly, but for me anyway it's easier most of the time to burn a disk. Uncle mark, this is the first time a key has gone bad on me. It is much easier and quicker as I see it to use a USB key (assuming I have one available) than...

Re: M12 11.9.92
My 64-bit Google Earth problem is solved! The USB key Ihad used to install the OS on all 3 of my systems was failing. It did not create any errors I found except the one in GE. Then I started to wonder if it could be the problem, so I rewrote the key - and was greeted with several errors. I have now...

Re: M12 11.9.92
Apparently the problem with GE in the 64-bit version is in "ia32-libs" itself. I have tried to figure out how to copy that package from .91, but so far no joy.

Re: M12 11.9.92
M 11.9.92-64 bit won't run Google Earth ; M 11.9.91-64 bit will. I had remarked on this in another thread, but I thought at that time it was some change in the libraries that was causing the problem. But I have now located a USB key with the M 11.9.91-64b ISO still on it and installed it to a spare ...

Re: M12 11.9.92
I downloaded and installed (HD install, not VB) both the 32- and 64-bit versions of .92. No problems (except for the intermitant crash when exiting the Live version; it happened 1 of the 2 installs), I then installed my normal suite of apps on both; again no problems and everything seems to be worki...

Re: Green Comet
I've downloded "The Ball", and will read it as soon as I finish the book I'm now reading. I'll let you know lf I have any commets as soon as I read it. I can't wait! I couldn't wait - Odd Thomas (Koontz's latest in that series) can wait! Yes, "The Ball" is longer - but it only m...
