Re: MX-18 beta 1 feedback

Used live-usb-maker to make an encrypted live stick (32 bit version), but on first boot on this T60, I get this error. Failed to set up dm-crypt key mapping for device /dev/sdb2 Check that kernel supports aes-xts-plin64 cipher Using live-ub-maker without encryption and the stick boots fine and beta1...

Re: MX-17 to MX-18 update testing

Can anyone running the 4.19 32-bit kernel install spectre-meltdown-checker and see if it now supports the PTI Meltdown hardening, as was advertised? Steve (too dang lazy to upgrade in a virtual machine and check for himself) In VBox spectre-meltdown-checker Spectre and Meltdown mitigation detection...

Looks like one difference is:
4.19.7-antix.1-amd64-smp (does not support rcu_nocbs)
4.19.4-antix.1-amd64-smp (does support rcu_nocbs)
Yes. See how it works without rcu_nocbs.
If it doen't work well, then I'll reverse the kernel config and put it back.

Re: MX-18 beta 1 feedback

Paul, How is that typical idle current stetting working? With or without the rcu_nocbs? I was able to use the MX Package installer to get the 4.19-antix kernel, which I have installed. All went smoothly, updated the grubs, and am posting from MX18 b1 with the 4.19.4-antix.1 kernel. I think the LTS ...

Re: debiandog's quickremaster for mx-linux

credit where credit is due, eh? IIRC, it was bled who "enlightened" us to the availability + benefit of lz4 mksquashfs option. Don't trust memory, use the forum search (query: lz4, show:topics). Yep, earliest mention of lz4 in the forum was a topic started by @bled +1 - bled's online 'manner' might...

Re: debiandog's quickremaster for mx-linux

@bled - which version of debian dog are you using? stretch 64 bit? Do you have a frugal install or a 'normal' install to a hard disk?
