Re: Interesting

Looks like a fake ad to me.

I can only hope that in the end it turns out to be some kind of positive advert for Linux rather than having the adverse effect. Who knows, some people with slightly more knowledge might go ahead and create their own Live USBs.

Re: SoftMaker Free Office now available

I removed the en_GB file and then started again from scratch. I can confirm following the wiki instructions work. In response to the question why Free Office ? I use LibreOffice almost exclusively for work purposes but sometimes the formatting of .docx files - which I have to use - let me down. I us...

Re: SoftMaker Free Office now available

Well, I followed the instructions on the Softmaker website and continued to find the 'OK' button for selecting the dictionary unresponsive.

Maybe the key is in the wget command putting the dictionary in the appropriate folder?

Re: Test all linux versions from one site

Yeah, I've tried it. Once you wait in line for a while I found it incredibly slow to use. Nice idea, though.

Re: SoftMaker Free Office now available

Blimey. Done it!

So, inside the Softmaker folder there's one called hunspell. BUT inside the folder called Settings there's another folder called hunspell. The dictionary files need to be in both. Then when you go through the options, it detects the dictionary. Phew.

Re: SoftMaker Free Office now available

Does spell-check work for others? I can't make it work here. (UK). I've used Tools>Options>Language to enable 'Use background spell-checking'. The free version uses Hunspell dictionaries, and Synaptic shows the en_GB one as installed, but when I try to use the dialogue in Tools>Options>Language to ...

Re: Disk Manager

I'm just killing time and browsing the forums. I'm not on MX at the mo. so can't directly answer your question but I imagine most people just go ahead and install gparted - it's one of the first things I always do on a new installation of any Linux OS.
