Re: exchange AMD Radeon and Nvidia adapter card

Sometimes you'll have to boot with nomodeset boot parameter.

If that's a recent Nvidia card, the free nouveau driver may not be supporting it, but there is a newer version in our test repository that might help.

Re: MX 17 Repository: The VLC Thread

It looks like the libvlc* package Depends are done by matching ABIs, so if you already have Debian's 3.0.8 libvlc_something installed, our vlc figures that's good enough. I'll rebuild ours to eliminate the need for the newer libebml, since Stretch's version of that was patched to fix the security ho...

Re: AP6255 WiFi Driver installation

Since MX ships with compilers and the kernel headers, the usual procedure is to run make sudo make install in the extracted folder you made from the zip file of the source. However, I looked at the Makefile, and it looks like there's nothing to make, so you may only have to run the second command to...

Re: MX15 on Acer Aspire One ZA3

You can add the CPU Graph Item to the panel to keep an eye on how much of it is being used. Right-click the panel in an empty spot, choose "Panel", and then "Add New Items". I don't know if your GPU supports va-api. You'll also need to install i965-va-driver to make it work if it's missing, but I th...

Re: Docker and MongoDB 4.2 ....

You can also install MongoDB 4.2 from the developer's apt repo for Debian Stretch with a very similar procedure:

https://docs.mongodb.com/v4.0/tutorial/ ... on-debian/

You should remove any version from our own repos first, as they warn.

You can install a flatpak of hw-probe in MXPI then run it.
How many MB is that flatpak, out of curiosity?

Re: I bricked my system... I think

Most UEFI laptops let you manually set which efi file to boot from in their UEFI setup ("BIOS") program, too.

Re: Malicious code another Linux Back Door

A good thing that it's not in Debian or MX repos, then!

It's not a backdoor in Linux at all. It's just that they let their particular application get replaced by a Trojan. Webmin!= Linux.
