Re: MX-18.1 package request: "Tribler"

Sometime gdebi has a bug like that, which is one of the reasons I prefer to install debs with the right-click action in Thunar or Dolphin instead. Can you install it from the test repo?

Re: MX 17 Repository: The FFMpeg thread

Fffmpeg was upgraded to the new 4.1.3 release in Buster as a security update, even though after the freeze, so that version has also been backported to the MX 17/18 test repo as well. Va-api hardware acceleration still works with players built against the former 4.1.1 release that are in the test re...

Re: Trouble with Nvidia GPU Installation

The installer gives you some different choices. Since you had trouble when you chose to use the test repo version (418.73), you should instead stick with the stable install when it gives you that choice.

Re: xfce4-weather background color

We do have the gtk3 version in the main MX 17-18 repo in order to keep up with the data provider's changes, but you should be able to install the stock Stretch version with sudo apt install xfce4-weather-plugin=0.8.9-1 to see if you still get the data. If it works, you can lock the package version i...

Re: cpu fan control program

If you have third-generation Intel processors or newer, you can also try undervolting them with iuvolt. It does extend battery life and reduce thermal throttling on the two Intel laptops I've tested it on.

Re: (SOLVED) Can't change kernel version

There is more of a chance for Liquorix kernels to show some bugs that can affect some hardware. There were a couple of releases between 5.1-8 and 5.1-13 that ended up having problems with suspend, hibernation, and resuming on some machines, but I never sent those releases to the MX repo. An attempt ...

Re: YouTube and Spotify playback glitching

A realtime kernel seems like a rather drastic solution. I would have at first experimented with Youtube playback in various other browsers and players, such as SMTube, mpv, and QMPlay2, to see if they have the same issues, and then tried a Liquorix or antiX kernel to see if they still have the same ...

Re: Clementine problem

We also have an actively maintained fork of Clementine in the test repo called "Strawberry" which may or may not fix the problem, but at least the developer is tackling issues like that when reported on Github. Rythmbox has a lot of Recommended and Suggested packages that are probably needed to get ...
