Thank you for all the input. I will install it to a second partition first. So that means bye-bye Ubuntu-Gnome on partition 2. But thats okay i only booted into that for troubleshooting purposes

Should I wait to upgrade to MX 19?

I am on MX 18.

I just found out about the new version. But for maximum stability should I wait until all the kinks have been worked out?

Back when I was an Ubuntu-Gnome user I would wait at least 3 months before doing the upgrade.

I tried to make install it and ran into all kinds of errors so Im glad there is a mx package

Thank you I made a note of these suggestions on paper so if it happens again I will have it ready. I also changed from "no compositor" to xfce compositor and we will see how that goes EDIT: Ended up switching to compton. I was getting tearing with the xfce compositor. I mean if I was on a ...
