This has occurred 3X in a row now: As the installer is install MX23, I'm filling out the stuff,and clicking on next, until that part is done. Thanks to all for the assistance given. After several more attempts were still negative, I used "USB Image Writer" to burn the iso to my flash drive.
I know there will be no persistence, but will live without it until the AppImage gets the bugs out. Should this thread be marked solved?
