Re: No sound on MX 18.2 [SOLVED -hurray!]

Thanks guys, all working now. In MX Tools 'select sound' the default soundcard said none, so changed that. Then in sound on the whisker menu I had to click un mute. Is it possible that when sound is muted or not muted the icon could change in that menu ? As is at the moment it's difficult to tell wh...

Re: Lightweight Linux Distro?

I am surprised no one has yet suggested Nanolinux (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nanolinux) which is just 19 MB in size and is based on the Core version of the Tiny Core Linux.

Download available from https://sourceforge.net/projects/nanolinux/

No sound on MX 18.2 [SOLVED -hurray!]

Whilst running from a usb my MX 18.2 ISO has no sound and I'm tearing my hair out trying to fix it. I'm running a remastered version of MX 18.2 with all the latest updates but have no audio whatsoever. When running my hard drive installed version of the same, audio works fine, but not off the usb ve...

Re: How many people using Windows 10 in here?

I stopped using Windows when I bought a laptop with Win 7 pre-installed. Within five minutes (literally) Windows was history and Linux had replaced it (Mint back then!)

Re: Systemd free MX19?

All I know is that when I use sysVinit instead of systemd my screen recorder Vokoscreen crashes the whole computer a short way into a recording session. Hopefully my favourite distro will still be able to use systemd in the future.

Re: systemd according to Luke Smith

Would it help any for basic versions of the distro to be made available with just a means of accessing Package Manager so we get just a bare bones distro that we can add, or not, the programs we want rather than having suites like Libra Office, etc pre-installed? For me I can count the number of tim...

Re: Can't log in, something about Bpfilter?

+1

Thanks, it never occurred to me that MY machine just might have the same problem that I advise others of!

Strange though that another distro works perfectly on the exact same machine when MX refuses to log in.

Re: Can't log in

I had the same problem again last evening, although without the bpfilter message this time as I'm running Kernel: 4.15.0-1-amd64 x86_64 bits. The laptop had been switched on for quite a long time and Youtube DL GUI had crashed whilst loading a Youtube file. The MX distro on the computer refused to r...

Re: Can no longer download Firefox add-ons...

Update: Thanks for mentioning Waterfox! After a lot of trial and error I got it 'installed' and working. I can now get the addons without any 'download failed' blather. So far as I can tell, this nonsense is Mozilla maneuvering to force upgrade to their 'latest' crappy version (no upgrade? no addon...
