Well, if you don't see this messgage anymore with dmesg sd 6:0:0:0: [sdd] No Caching mode page found [sd 6:0:0:0: [sdd] Assuming drive cache: write through the delay might have solved it. It appears that even though the kernel sees the card reader all the time, it wont see the card when it is inserted. it will only see the sdcard if it is inserted before bootup. Are you saying when you insert the card after boot, you will not see within dmesg , lsusb, blkid or in gparted? Not seeing...
