Re: System update = security risk ??

Another ingenious suggestion - but probably one I can`t do. I am nursing a few bits of old hardware including a USB stick of 256Kb capacity - I`m sure that`s too small (I thought it was massive when new about 10 years ago). Out of all the ideas in reply to this post, I think the OSDisk one as sugges...

Re: System update = security risk ??

Uncle Mark - I won`t take up your offer ; I`m on the other side of the pond in old England, so it would be too much to ask, but thanks very much anyway.
And thanks to everyone else replying to this post - a load of good ideas that I will check out.

If I download the ISO for a new version, the file is too big to fit on a CD. Until I figure out a way around th...

System update = security risk ??

I have installed MX-14 on my old laptop from a magazine cover DVD, and it is working well. An icon in the notification area tells me there are more than 300 updates available. I would think it`s generally a good idea to install all of these updates. However, when I go into Synaptic Package Manager a...

Re: Language problem on installation

So simple - it needed someone more intelligent than me to spot it. Working just fine now. Thank you.

Language problem on installation - SOLVED

I recently found MX-14 on a DVD that came with `Linux Format` magazine - about 2 years ago I think. I started it from the DVD, explored the system and liked it well enough that I decided to install it on my very old laptop. Installation went smoothly and, when complete, I rebooted the computer. I wa...
