Re: MX-17 issue: "Jabra Speak 510" speakerphone = jitter only (in combination with Twinkle)

ANOTHER UPDATE:

Just tried to figure out what the difference between their "510" models and the "510+" models is. Seems to be that the only difference is that the "+" models are bundled with a Jabra Bluetooth stick.

Can anyone confirm this?

Greetings, Joe

Re: Interesting free apps for Android devices (all from the "F-Droid" non-store)

UPDATE: I'd remove Contact Owner from the initial list : While testing it with LineageOS 15.1 (which is a somewhat cleaned-up Android 8.1 (Oreo) ), I noticed that this app asked for an absurd amount of permissions. F-Droid says that Cache Cleaner is no longer needed if using Android 6.0 or newer. H...

Re: Packages being worked on by the Repo Team

@stsoh: dev team, please do housekeeping on stable repo. it takes a long time (few mins :p , long enough to irritate) scanning thru 52,000 packages, sometime it also crash. please get rid off obsolete packages, segregate packages for mx15, 16, 17...future releases. thank you. Re: Connecting different types of "Ethernet cables" - possible?

@timkb4cq: Appropriate speed is being autonegotiated, correct? Meaning: Assuming that both cables are intact, and the coupler is intact, too, there's actually nothing that should go wrong (except for having a low speed connection). Correct? Yup! Unless you have disabled auto negotiation on one or mo...

Re: Connecting different types of "Ethernet cables" - possible?

@timkb4cq: For a 10 meter run the minor differences between Cat 5 & Cat 6 (or 7) won't matter. If you have an old Cat 3 cable involved it may limit the speed to 100 mb/s (or even 10 if it has deteriorated over the years). (...) Appropriate speed is being autonegotiated, correct? Meaning: Assuming th...

(...) There are also crossover couplers that are used to make port to port connections without using a hub or router.

Great hint, thanks! Greetings, Joe

(...) a 10m Cat 6 cable is only £2.82 ($3.69).

That's probably about the same as the coupler cost. ;-)

I know, but a coupler consumes less space. 10 m cables tend to come in rather inflexible qualities and thus tend to consume a lot of space.

[SOLVED] Connecting different types of "Ethernet cables" - possible?

@all: I sometimes need a 10 m (approx. 33 ft) "Ethernet cable" for configuration work. Currently I don't have a 10 m cable but e.g. two 5 m cables. When connecting those cables using a coupler, would you have to check which Category the cable is (e.g. Cat 5, Cat 6 )? Or could you possibly mix all ki...

High quality rubber bands for outdoor use - recommendations?

A friend of mine has some old wood shutters on her house's windows. They look like somehow like these ones: http://bestblindandshutter.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/products-shutters02.jpg (not half as good, unfortunately). Problem is that the hold-open mechanisms are very much worn out. So wheneve...

In any case, just plugging in a ps/2 to usb adapter with no keyboard or mouse plugged into it wouldn't damage a motherboard. The adapters are purely passive.
Good to know, thanks. Greetings, Joe
