Re: MX-17.1: unetbootin can't produce MX-17.1 boot stick

@anticapitalista: Whatever - the answer is still the same - don't use Unetbootin. MX-17.1 Users Manual v. 20180305, p. 11: You can easily create a bootable USB that works on most systems. MX Linux includes the tools Live-usb maker (see Section 3.2) and the cross-platform utility Unetbootin for this ...

Re: MX-17.1: unetbootin can't produce MX-17.1 boot stick

@anticapitalista: Known issue as you are fully aware of since you raised this in the past eg https://forum.mxlinux.org/viewtopic.php?f=108&t=42876&p=433971&hilit=unetbootin#p433971 The thread you linked dealt with good old MX- 16 .1, in connection with an UEFI -based platform. This threa...

MX-17.1: unetbootin can't produce MX-17.1 boot stick

@all: Trying to get MX-17.1 on a USB boot stick, unetbootin repeatedly runs into trouble. First try: Formatted the stick with ext4 using gnome-disks. Then tried to get the ISO on the stick using unetbootin . unetbootin confronted my with an error message about some syslinux file already being in /bo...

MX-17.1: mx-live-usb-maker produces error while generating MX-17.1 boot stick

@all: Just tried to generate an MX-17.1 boot stick, but mx-live-usb-maker gave me an unspecific error message . Last thing it did before that was copying files to the stick. I had used this stick as a live MX-17.1 stick before, but had generated it from another computer. Unfortunately mx-live-usb-ma...

Re: MX-17.1: How to install your system using a different file system than ext4

@dolphin_oracle: For your example, perhaps you should stick with primaries, since this is for a single-boot system. O.k., will do so. that's what grub does for you. grub is lower level, and can launch the installed system's initramfs or initrd (think ram drive, a compressed filesystem image that can...

MX-17.1 installer: Time options and effects?

@all:

Does anyone know what the different time options in the MX-17.1 installer mean, and what effects they have?

I never came to understand what the "local" and the "UTC" time options lead to, specifically.
