Re: Help for hard-to-remember terminal commands...

@EEEDDD: Thanks for that link. This looks interesting. @All: What goodies do you use to make command-line typing less tedious? I have a simple text file that I keep in Dropbox that I store terminal commands and their meanings in, that are relevant to me. That way it is accessible on all of my systems.

Re: Laptops

We're looking to collect info for specific laptops running antiX-15 or MX-15. Please post here, and we will take care of reviewing for the Wiki. Suggested format: 1) 32 or 64bit? 2) can you boot to the desktop? 3) what works OOTB? 4) what doesn't work OOTB? Did you find a fix? 5) Comments (short) 6...

Re: Firefox or Chrome

newkansan, I only have 1 core (Athlon 64)...and yes, it's maxed when I scroll. I wish I could afford a newer machine, but being on a fixed income, I'd rather eat... :tumbleweed: Then sadly, I think your best bet is to have both FF and Chrome. Use FF on sites that don't choke with it, and Chrome for...

Re: Firefox or Chrome

Leo, Check your CPU utilization during scrolling in FF--does one core max out at 100% while the other core(s) is/are unused? In my experience, this is how FF and IceWeasel perform in ALL Linux distros. It is especially noticeable in media-heavy pages like Facebook and really annoying. Chrome tends t...

Re: Does the nvidia installer offer version 304.x as an opti

I'm resurrecting this old thread because I came across a solution that might help someone else down the road. To recap: I have a laptop with nvidia 8200M IGP. Any driver later than 319.x would cause graphical glitching and system freezes. The solution is to disable MSI interrupts (apparently the new...

Re: Beta Manual feedback

Section 4.10.5

"GE for Linux is available from the repos." I think it would look more professional if "Google Earth" was spelled out rather than abbreviated "GE".

Re: Beta Manual feedback

Wow...what an impressive manual! I have only had time to browse it briefly, but I did wonder, in Section 1.3 System Requirements, if a soundcard really is a requirement. Will the install fail if there is no sound card?

Re: Updated Menu Icon

Lots of great options. I've been testing them all out. The one Utopia linked to is my favorite, but the lower part has this weird fading out effect that looks cool up close in an editor, but just doesn't look right on my panel. I ended up sticking with one of the ones I made (the stock black MX icon...

Here are a couple of more options. Like I said, I'm no graphic artist :)
