Re: How do I fix this problem with "conky"???

I had that problem with the time display in a Conky several months ago.. Cured it by disabling that particular Conky and choosing a different one. Sorry I did
dig further to find the cause.

Re: Genealogy Software

I've been using Gramps for years but am also not happy with recent changes. Currently trying out Ancestris which uses the standard ged system. It runs OK on MX.

Re: What Linux Needs To Do To Reach The Masses.

When a buyer can walk into a main street store and purchase a computer with a Linux OS off the shelf, and have a choice of costs and features, then Linux
could be considered to reach the Masses.

Re: What Linux Needs To Do To Reach The Masses.

A topic perhaps good for a lengthy discussion, but we need to live with the facts. Linux has not been promoted as a home user system. In contrast Windows, and to a lesser extent the Macs, have been promoted by many many retailers as the computer system for home use. Ask the average citizen about Lin...

Re: MX 17/18 Repository: The Chirp Thread

It all looks good but my gear is a bit like me, ancient. Had my amateur licence since 1950 and the equipment is a bit old for programming. Thanks anyway.

Re: orca screen reader

Both MXPI and SynapticPM list Gnome-Orca version 3.2.2 . This is shown as Old in the Gnome info, with Version 3.0 listed as correct for Buster. The latest version seems to be Orca 3.34. Am still sorting out the dependencies, there look to be limitations on the Python version used. All a bit complica...

I have also had no success with Orca. Installed the package from the MXPI. but does not show in menus and Catfish cannot find it.

Re: External Mouse Scroll Speed Adjustment

The title of this thread puzzles me a bit. In about 50 years of working in IT I have never found internal mice in PC's. In fact never found one in a main frame either,
but did see a few mouse visiting cards in an old IBM. They came in thru' the air conditioning seeking food and warmth.
