Desktop wallpaper changer question

#1

Post by Redacted » Mon Jan 14, 2019 2:22 pm

Does anyone know whether the XFCE built-in wallpaper changer can really go through >1,100 pictures?
I've used variety, and I could see through its history option that several pictures were being repeated, and several were never being shown.
I have the changer set to random, so that obviously affects things.
But I just wonder if there's an upper limit that can be read.
Not terribly important, but I'd just like to know if anyone knows for sure.
Thanks.

looks like they count the number of items in a selected folder, then generate a random number in the range of 0 to (n-1) items.

so yes, but its not random without duplication. I didn't see how they are generating the random number, so that could be a factor if some images show up more often than others.

FYI: mx "test" repo is not the same thing as debian testing repo.

Thanks d_o!
I don't mind the duplication, but glad to know it's "reading" the whole folder.
