They only have an AppImage for Ubuntu

AppImages are supposed to be compatible across many distros, and they have both 32 and 64-bit versions. Have you tried it in MX?

It also looks to be an Electron application written in nodejs, and I don't know how to build those from source---just how to shove the big Electron file in a deb.

I was afraid to try it for fear that it would break my system or send me to dependency hell.

I have an idea:

To boot the MX "Live CD" from the usb drive and I can try it that way? Is this a good way to test it? Because I assume that if it works on the live CD that it should be safe to use on my normal system?

Why would an appimage break your system? The worst that could happen is that it doesn't run because it didn't pack in its portable format some dependencies that it needs, and MX doesn't have those dependencies for the appimage to use.

But the appimage's dependencies won't bleed into or mess up MX's own system because the former is not trying to install itself onto MX.

Hi,

The normal Appimage works perfectly. Thank you for your help, no need to create a new package.
