MX 15/16 Repository: The SMPlayer Thread
Re: MX 15/16 Repository: The SMPlayer Thread
Try switching Preferences/Network/Youtube (and other sites)/support for video sites from Auto to mpv+youtube-dl, and then have SMPlayer use mpv as the player.
Changes in Youtube APIs can indeed break it in SMPlayer only, so this will probably be fixed soon in an update.
Update: Broken for everyone, not just us, with other possible fixes: https://forum.smplayer.info/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=9058
Since this is a MX 15/16 thread, mpv from the test repo should be used.

Re: MX 15/16 Repository: The SMPlayer Thread
It seems to be fixed in Youtube 18.1.0, so will package that, but see this about crashing when moving the time slider with the mplayer backend:
Yes, I also experienced this problem. I guess it's a bug in mplayer. I think it can be fixed by selecting "relative seeking" in preferences -> interface -> seeking.
Re: MX 15/16 Repository: The SMPlayer Thread
Your instructions in #41 work perfectly. I have Absolute Seeking enabled and can seek without crashing too.
Fantastic
Cheers Steve.
OT: Only recently discovered the joys of MPV player. It handles vids in HEVC format with ease which nothing else on this box could play before, also uses a lot less power to run. SMplayer is the best for youtube though as it lets me select the 360 resolution which conserves bandwidth.

Re: MX 15/16 Repository: The SMPlayer Thread
Yes, mpv seems to use hardware accelerated video decoding out of the box, which mplayer can't yet. SMPlayer 18.1.0 is built, tested to make sure it fixes the problem with "auto", and uploaded. It should update from the main repo soon, but is also here for now: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1crUog ... 2lOsdCSen0
QMplay2 is also good for Youtube and overall accelerated playback if you pick the right ffmpeg decoder in Playback settings.

Re: MX 15/16 Repository: The SMPlayer Thread
SMPlayer 18.2.2 is now in the main repository. Changes:
Version 18.2.2:
The option Open -> URL can now also load YouTube playlists.
New option in Preferences -> Subtitles to select the opacity of the background of the subtitles (available when the 'border style' is set to 'opaque box').
The options for the preferred number of track for audio and subtitles are back.
(mpv) Now the direct3d is the default video output for Windows, since some users reported problems with the gpu output.
Version 18.2:
Now it's possible to use a priority list of preferred languages for the audio and subtitles.
Now there's support for YouTube playlists. In the playlist window, click in the Load/save icon, select "Load playlist from URL" and paste the URL of the YouTube playlist.

Re: MX 15/16 Repository: The SMPlayer Thread
Now updated to the latest 18.4.0 release in the main repo, with a new feature to change the position of OSD bar.
Other than that, the time displayed by a tooltip when the mouse is over the seekbar is now much more accurate. And now it’s possible to turn off the use of the system native file dialog in Preferences -> Interface.

Re: MX 15/16 Repository: The SMPlayer Thread
The latest 18.6.0 release is now in the main repo, along with an 18.6.0 release of smplayer-themes (icon sets) that adds the Dark icons.
