Every time I convert DVD via Handbrake I would set the preset as "High Profile" and the output video quality is quite satisfying. And I find a related guide to Handbrake settings: http://www.thewebernets.com/2015/02/28/ ... and-linux/
And when I want to convert the DVD I bought to HD for backup purpose, I would follow this way: http://www.videoconverterfactory.com/ti ... d-dvd.html

copy dvd to HD playable
Re: copy dvd to HD playable
When I want to archive a dvd movie, I just open it with vlc, then when I'm past all the trailers I hit the record button. I get a nice .mpg file with very good resolution. If the .mpg file is too large for my needs, I use Handbrake to convert it to a different file format, like .m4v, which results in a smaller file, with good video quality.
