I used to use LibreWolf back when I was using the Arch-based Artix distro and I could pull it from the AUR, but haven't used it since I've been on MX and antiX. LibreWolf is pretty good, but honestly I personally like a different libre firefox fork better - it's called 'abrowser' by the Trisquel distro. The .deb installs and runs perfectly on MX, you can find it from the Trisquel package mirror if you like: https://archive.trisquel.info/trisquel/ ... f/firefox/

Currently the latest version of abrowser is 84.0.2, so the link for 64-bit would be https://archive.trisquel.info/trisquel/ ... _amd64.deb, and the link for 32-bit would be https://archive.trisquel.info/trisquel/ ... 7_i386.deb.

abrowser does take all the firefox extensions from the mozilla add-ons website, at least the ones I've tried.
Look great. Better than GNU IceCat.

Agreed, I prefer abrowser to icecat for sure, and the latest release of icecat is over 18 months old. Icecat is probably still secure since it is so tightly locked down, but it doesn't handle websites near as well as abrowser in my experience.

Trisquel is based on Ubuntu, so I am leery of installing their packages in any Debian based distro.

Good point - I should rather not recommend that users install it themselves, but that MX should consider offering it via MXPI as a privacy respecting and Libre fork of Firefox that is a good alternative to LibreWolf and Icecat.

My own experience with abrowser for the past couple of months on MX and on antiX has been excellent, with no crashes or errors. I have included it as the default browser on my antiX Libre respin, and have received no bug reports about it from the respin's users.

I'm going to update this with new links since there is a new version 86.0 of abrowser out today:

Newly I found out about:config in Firefox, which is sometimes really tiresome, for those who have privacy concerns... So is, in my opinion, Abroswer the best alternative to it right now, would you explain why wouldn't you install Ubuntu based packages on Debian and if there is any way to bypass it? Like having Abrowser installed but without Ubuntu?

Ubuntu is built from source packages from several versions of Debian, they mix repos and then make it work.

Read How to break your system in the Help section:

viewtopic.php?f=104&t=44747

You could try making a request that Abrowser to be packaged for MX Linux.
