MX 17/18 Repository: The Foliate Ebook Reader Thread
Re: MX 17/18 Repository: The Foliate Epub Reader Thread
I just sent it up, so it might not be in our repo yet...it is here on Google Drive for the time being, though:

Edit: fixed link
Raspian Buster is still "testing", but does have the necessary version of gjs >= 1.5.2: https://repology.org/project/gjs/versions

Re: MX 17/18 Repository: The Foliate Epub Reader Thread
Great news (and really, really great job, Stevo!), I've installed foliate from MX Test Repo (I copied .deb file from my MX Linux system) on my Raspberry Pi 1 with Raspbian Buster.
It works! Brilliant, I love this software

Here, this should be the correct link: https://drive.google.com/open?id=18HN-z ... o_mYWKsc71
I think I'll see if I can get some Debian users to file an RFP bug to get it added to the Debian repo. Maybe they can get it to build in sbuilder or pbuilder when I can't figure it out.

Re: MX 17/18 Repository: The Foliate Epub Reader Thread
We put it in main now for MX 19, since it doesn't require the string of backports there that it did on a Stretch platform, and shouldn't affect any other packages: http://mxrepo.com/mx/repo/pool/main/f/foliate/

Re: MX 17/18 Repository: The Foliate Epub Reader Thread
Does anyone know if notes or any other added customizations made while reading an epub in Foliate get saved to the epub file itself, so that if we later read it in Calibre the annotations are still there?
Or does it possibly save customizations to an extra file per epub that wouldn't be readable in calibre (or on smartphone epub readers)?

I've checked it now - no, there are no changes in epub file, when open with eg. Calibre, FBReader, Okular.nathan2423 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 12, 2019 8:29 am Does anyone know if notes or any other added customizations made while reading an epub in Foliate get saved to the epub file itself, so that if we later read it in Calibre the annotations are still there?

Notes or highlights are visible only in Foliate (there is no need for saving, after next file opening they are there).

Must say it is an impressive, intuitive e-reader. Thanks for adding it to testing!
Edit: tried it with 2 ebooks, downloaded a epub from Google Books, and another from Project Gutenberg, both work great. Thanks again Stevo!

Hey, I noticed the openSUSE Build Service now will build packages for Raspian 9 and 10, too! Maybe I (or the other devs) can build some MX apps in there that aren't dependent on anything special we have in MX...didn't someone post that MX-snapshot worked in BunsenLabs?
Foliate fails to build on the OBS with the same errors as in other non-bare metal build setups, but I did post the problem as an issue on its Github page, so maybe the developer can fix it.

Re: MX 17/18 Repository: The Foliate Epub Reader Thread
Fixed the build problems by adding missing build-depends, and built the new 1.5.0 release. You can get it here early, and upgrade from 1.4.0 by installing the MX 17 deb. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1mMFCZ ... DRU9DVWSBW
It should also be in the test repo soon.
I also set up some Debian, Ubuntu, and Raspian repos on the OBS: https://build.opensuse.org/package/show ... te/foliate
