Furgal?

#1

Post by pitape » Sun Apr 28, 2019 11:01 am

I really like MX Linux 18.2. I would like to switch from Kubuntu 19.04 with persistence. MX/Antix seem to have far better persistence options. But it does not seem to work properly.
I have created a boot USB with Rufus from Windows 10. I boot and go through the screens (EFI, my laptop is Thinkpad X260) and chosoe frugal persistence on my NTFS windows partition. Everything is fine, root and home are created on my Win10 NTFS partition. But I when I reboot and choose my MX USB stick, I have no other choice but going through all those screens again. And my Swiss French keyboard is never accepted. Why can't we set up our system and then just reboot straight into it at boot with a menu option?
I really want to use MX with live persistence but it is too cumbersome...

Your thoughts and comments most welcome!

Have you checked the md5sum of the downloaded file and of the media you created? That can cause all kind of weirdness if those don't match.

Booting in legacy mode has an option to save those settings, but I can't see that on the UEFI screens.

The following video tutorial might help:

Can part of the problem be those NTFS partitions instead of a normal Linux filesystem?
