Re: Google drive MX Linux client

Downloaded the latest Insync for Debian Stretch I am getting about 13 kB/s to 1600/kB/s upload. But most of the time at the lower speeds. It will take a long time to sync and right now it is only indexing an existing folder. But better than my earlier experience.

Yikes! that's horrible. Maybe they're having a problem with new rev of GDrive Backup & Sync...How big is the folder?

EDIT: Can you tell anything from the log files here: ~/.config/Insync?

Edited the post. A bit better than originally posted. Post #11.
The folder is 9 GB and 3449 files. Not much gleaned from the log files.

You can email the log files to them...and they will respond. Assuming it is not that far out of sync, that size folder and number of files should take that long, especially with a high-speed link like you have.

You might want to post something about it first with the details https://forums.insynchq.com/c/uncategorized and then send the email here: support@insynchq.com...with a reference to the post.

Actually it completed pretty fast about 1/2 hour. My previous experience was that it would take a couple of days. Not sure what the difference is, perhaps the later version of the client or some setting in my latest MX install. I am very satisfied.

You can do it by installing gnome-control-center and gnome-online-accounts:
sudo apt install gnome-control-center gnome-online-accounts

If you try to run "gnome-control-center", you won't see anything (with an xfce desktop), so you need to use:
env XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP=GNOME gnome-control-center

A "Settings" window should pop-up, at the top is "Online Accounts" - click that, then "Add Online Account". You should see a list of options, one of which is "Google" - click that, which should then start asking you for your Google login info.

Once you're through all that, then you can select what you want to share with Google.

The Google Drive should show up as a Device in Thunar.
