#1

Post by Sparky » Sat Jan 12, 2019 4:47 am

There is a persistent horizontal line in approximately the bottom 1/5th of my screen. This appears in all applications. Could it be the drivers or some sort of configuration?

Graphics: Device-1: Intel HD Graphics 530 driver: i915 v: kernel
Device-2: NVIDIA GM107M [GeForce GTX 960M] driver: nvidia v: 390.87
Display: x11 server: X.Org 1.19.2 driver: modesetting unloaded: fbdev,vesa
resolution: 1920x1080~60Hz
OpenGL: renderer: GeForce GTX 960M/PCIe/SSE2 v: 4.6.0 NVIDIA 390.87

Sure it's not a hardware problem?

Boot live to see if it's still there; if it is, you can eliminate a corrupted or faulty install.

I would guess the pipeline is not forced. If the line is not there in live, go inside nvidia-settings and in advanced tick force composition pipeline. Then reboot and see if it's gone.

I am using Cairo dock. I booted with the live USB and the line isn't there.
I'll check the Nvidia settings next as Eadwine suggested.

I'm not clear if your xfwm4 settings look like the attached. If they don't try setting them as they are in the image to see if things improve. :bagoverhead:

Thanks, that did it! I just copied all the checkmarks you provided with my version and the line is gone!
Thanks!
