That's OK. Just a common error in Microsoft-speak : it's spelled DISTRO but it's pronounced DISENTERY.(Yeah I shouldn't use Distro to describe Windoze")

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

Re: It's an ugly Windows world out there
You can install Windows 10 on almost any computer that came with Windows 7. Windows 10 generally has the drivers you need without jumping through Windows 7 hoops, finding all the drivers you need. But Linux is so dead simple to install that it saves time and aggravation. I wouldn't want to install Windows for anyone else :(
Re: It's an ugly Windows world out there
In my experience, that statement is not entirely true. The major manufacturers generally chose not to upgrade the drivers for embedded video cards on Win 7 era machines. It's also a bit of a crap shoot for machines that were shipped with Win 8 /8.1. Some of the Win 8.1 video drivers will work with Win 10, but a lot won't.KBD wrote: ↑Wed Dec 26, 2018 8:53 pm You can install Windows 10 on almost any computer that came with Windows 7. Re: It's an ugly Windows world out there
I've installed Window 10 five times with good results, but on hardware no older than around 8-9 years old and intel hardware. I can imagine anything needing a unique driver could be a nightmare. MS has been paying attention to Linux with install via usb and many drivers out of the box, still not as easy as Linux though.j2mcgreg wrote: ↑Wed Dec 26, 2018 9:13 pmIn my experience, that statement is not entirely true.
