distrowatch ranking panel is missing

#1 Post by mmikeinsantarosa »

Looks like DW removed the ranking panel on the RH side of the main page.

Yes, DW seems to have been hijacked by a special-purpose commercial distro called 3CX.
Shocking that DW is letting this happen.

What do you mean by that? Do you have a source?

Source is the site itself.

I'm pretty sure 3CX have been an advertiser on DW for some time.

There is a note just above where the rankings normally are reading "The PHR table has been taken off-line temporarily. It will return tomorrow."

DW have just Tweeted that the table is off-line for updates until tomorrow.

Cool. I went there yesterday to check out the table & had to go to this page:

https://distrowatch.com/dwres.php?resource=popularity

I thought it was a design change... I'm glad that the table will return to its old position.

It's all working OK now.
The sponsorship appears to be benign.
Sorry for the overreaction - my paranoia was too active.
