Request for Waterfox [SOLVED]
Is it possible to include Waterfox in the 64bit repos please?
At the moment when I wish to install it I download it from https://www.waterfoxproject.org/en-US/waterfox/new/, download the tar ball and then have to go and research how to change that into a deb file.
Or use the Microsoft owned Github at https://github.com/hawkeye116477/waterfox-deb

Re: Request for Waterfox
Another lesson learned thank you.
Actually there is already a .deb version of Waterfox at the bottom of this page,
https://bintray.com/hawkeye116477/waterfox-deb/waterfox.
If you save the file named waterfox_56.2.0_amd64.deb, then run it in MX 17, it installs beautifully.
Perhaps the mods could 'sticky' this until it can be worked on to place in the repos?

is simply wrong. You can't turn off data-collection within firefox in a simple way.... telemetry data to Mozilla, but you can disable that from Options > Privacy & Security > Firefox Data Collection and Use in Firefox.
Further this quote from above:
Reads a bit different on the Basilisk home page: http://www.basilisk-browser.org/...but right now the developer considers Basilisk an unstable development platform.
I'm happily using palemoon, basilisk and waterfox together with some security privay addons, like umatrix, ublockOrigin etc. and rarly do see a need for using firefox.Basilisk is development software. This means that it should be considered more or less "beta" at all times

Re: Request for Waterfox [SOLVED]
Agree with Fehlix regarding the web link assertion. Here is just a small list of configuration settings to enhance privacy, defeat some annoyances, and go some way to de-googling a firefox based web browser. Overriding cache management and setting it to zero also helps. Most folk probably know these settings, and there are plenty of examples on the web, but for those who don't, this might serve as a starter...Make the changes at your own risk OK?..Don't blame me if it breaks stuff. It's all about experimenting and what works best for you

Re: Request for Waterfox [SOLVED]
If anyone wants to install Waterfox directly from the Waterfox web site I found this method (Youtuber Switch to Linux) worked perfectly for me. Putting all the files,icons etc in the correct place.
1) Download Waterfox ....tar.bz2 file
2) Extract file to /opt directory (note - will need to be root)
3) Go to /usr/share/applications open root terminal
4) Create file $ sudo nano waterfox.desktop and enter the following
[Desktop Entry]
Name=Waterfox
GenericName=Waterfox
Exec=/opt/waterfox/waterfox
Terminal=false
Icon=/opt/waterfox/browser/icons/mozicon128.png
Type=Application
Categories=Application;Network;X-Developer;
Comment=Waterfox Web Browser.
Save file
5) go to /usr/bin and create shortcut for Waterfox
eg. in the terminal $ ln -s /opt/waterfox/waterfox
6) In Settings > Preferred Applications change browser to Waterfox
7) Add Launcher in panel.
For updates you get a notification through the browser its then just a matter of downloading the tar.bz2 file and extracting it to /opt overwriting the existing file.
