Hello,
First, thank you for this "how to" topic, and for this nice and robust distrib. MX17 based on Debian.
I have also tried to install and compile Vdrift into MX17 , that's work but it was not very easy to install it, due to some extra lib and some others things.
libalut0 (1.1.0-5+b2)
libglc0 (0.7.2-5+b3)
libglewmx1.13 (1.13.0-3)
libsdl2-image-2.0-0 (2.0.1+dfsg-2+b2)
And after ... scons arch=a64
Maybe the best way, the user friendly way, is to add the Vdrift package into the item Games ? like: Tuxkart etc ...( 3.2.11 Package installer (MX17 pdf guide))
PS: sorry for my poor English.
It's now available in the CR (you can install with synaptic)
PS: Strange, I have'nt find Vdrift into synaptic. (CR means: an extra repository?)

Probably because this thread is eight/ten? years old. :) Things change.

This is the place to ask the Repo Crew about packaging possibilities for this app:

I'm sure someone will come along soon to take a look
at the possibility of building vdrift for MX-17.

There's a newer version in Getdeb's playdeb repo that we could try and rebuild, but I seem to have lost the trick of getting into their mirror. Maybe Mike still has it.

It hasn't been updated to build with the newer standard gcc-6 we have in MX 17, but we have gcc-4.9 in our test repo to build Pale Moon, and it will build using that, so we should have the last 2014 version in our repo pretty soon.

Maybe I need to pull that trick to get stuntrally to build on MX 17, too. Hmmm...

Thank you Stevo for your good work.
My child will be happy to have vdrift and stuntrally too I guess in the future ;-)

The gcc-4.9 trick works to compile stuntrally, but the ld step (linking) fails spectacularly with a million errors like

Code: Select all

./build-tree/source/shiny/./source/shiny/Platforms/Ogre/OgreMaterial.cpp:75: undefined reference to `Ogre::Technique::getSchemeName() const'
I'm sure there's some of sort of magic override that can be added to the debian/rules file that can fix this, but I'm not that expert. :frown:

I wonder if the MX 15 stuntrally runs in MX 17?

Hmmm--Repology says Deepin has deb packages, maybe I can use their source....nope, they copied Playdeb's Ubuntu xenial packages into their repo--cheaters! :p

Code: Select all

stuntrally-data_2.6-1~getdeb4~xenial_all.deb 23-May-2016 03:36 617687914
stuntrally_2.6-1~getdeb4~xenial.debian.tar.xz 23-Aug-2017 09:51 1804
stuntrally_2.6-1~getdeb4~xenial.dsc 23-Aug-2017 09:51 905
stuntrally_2.6-1~getdeb4~xenial_amd64.deb 23-May-2016 03:36 2178446
stuntrally_2.6-1~getdeb4~xenial_i386.deb 23-May-2016 03:36 2264530
stuntrally_2.6.orig.tar.gz 23-Aug-2017 09:51 4443982
Though we may have to cheat too and build the MX 17 packages on MX 15, too. :frown:
