wifi manager from puppy linux
Re: wifi manager from puppy linux
How will this advice work for those using 64-bit systems?
What advantages does frisbee have over the network managers we already have installed or in the repository, such as wicd or ceni?

Re: wifi manager from puppy linux
While frisbee has been the most reliable way to get PUPPY'S wifi to work for me, I have NEVER found MX's network manager to NOT work, or for that matter AntiX's ceni. Therefore, I too wonder why one would want to use frisbee with either MX or AntiX.Stevo wrote:How will this advice work for those using 64-bit systems?

OP seems to be a Puppy Linux fan, since I recall he made a previous post about Debiandog (Jessie).

I don't see any reason for this to be added to our repos. We already have three that work well, and the rare individual that wants it can just install it him-/herself.
It's interesting how we see some users who come to MX from another Linux distro, then want MX to be like the one they left.

I guess people become attached to an app they are used to. I am probably guilty of that myself, As I have stated before I am a fan of Dolphin as a file manager. I have tried to like thunar and used it extensively, but can't quite get there with it, so I have dolphin installed.Jerry3904 wrote:I don't see any reason for this to be added to our repos. I just try to point out to those who propose application changes that it is their personal preference and MX cannot be expected to react to a personal preference for its default install.

Re: wifi manager from puppy linux
Our packagers are very obliging and usually respond to suggestions with a build that gets added to the repos after testing, but without the source code, that isn't going to happen, and nor should it happen, however great an app may be.

Re: wifi manager from puppy linux
Robot commercials don't get me to use things either. PS. I used to be on the MacPup Team member. Which had Frisbee. I used to build pianobar puppy packages also. I supported old time Puppy developers at Murga forums when I could.
I can see though How a former Puppy user now using MX might want to know what the OP posted. Too bad his vocabulary is either limited by language or personality traits. Because he sounds like a Bot. His reply to Stevo's reply was canned as canned can get. Nothing about disabling the repo after installing Frisbee. Nothing about conflicts when updating MX with repo enabled. Nada nada nada. Just like a Bot.
I'll stick with Wicd . By the way. A girl invented Frisbee < jemimah >. She is no longer associated with Puppy Linux either. I used to run her distro also. On a SD card on my EEEPC.
And most people thought Gnome and MX and others were the only ones with side toolbars. I miss that LXDE style of desktop. That girl was and still is a smart cookie.
Meh. Since this is a Puppy thread. With a blow hard like me posting. Notice something? I am not a Bot. Here is where her distro resides now,
https://archive.org/details/PuppyLinuxPuppeee
Some more sweat off her brow
https://archive.org/details/Fluppy
https://archive.org/details/Puppy_Linux_Saluki
Notice I don't supply repo links to use Frisbee instead.
Because I don't want to break anybodies system. A MX no no.
